레타모 성전 (이글레시아 에반헬리카 펜테코스탈)

1910년 감리교단과 갈라선 발파라이소의 오순절 신자들은 자기 소유의 예배 처소 없이 9년 동안 이곳저곳 빌린 건물을 전전해야 했다. 그러다 1919년 6월 14일, 윌리스 후버 목사가 사재를 들여 알멘드랄 지구 레타모 거리 721번지의 건물을 사들였다. 원래 술 창고로 쓰이던 건물이었는데, 이를 예배당으로 개조해 그해 12월 25일 성탄절에 1,087명이 모인 가운데 봉헌식을 가졌다. 오순절 부흥 이후 칠레 오순절 운동이 최초로 '소유'한 건물이라는 점에서 이곳은 특별한 자리를 차지한다 — 셋집을 전전하던 이들이 마침내 자기 땅에 자기 성전을 세운 순간이었다. 가로 약 7.5미터, 세로 약 28미터에 이르는 널찍한 성전에는 회랑과 넓은 계단이 있었고, 당시로서는 드물게 전기 조명까지 갖췄다고 전해진다. 이곳은 2001년 다른 곳에 새 중앙성전이 세워지기 전까지 오순절교회(Iglesia Evangélica Pentecostal)의 중앙 성전 역할을 했으며, 이후로도 지역 교회로서 예배가 끊이지 않고 이어져 왔다. 2019년에는 부흥 110주년과 나란히 성전 봉헌 100주년을 기념했다. 화려한 첨탑이나 스테인드글라스 대신 소박한 벽돌 외관을 지녔지만, 셋집을 전전하던 한 무리의 신자들이 처음으로 '내 집'이라 부를 수 있었던 자리라는 사실이 이 건물의 진짜 무게를 이룬다.
Templo de Retamo (Iglesia Evangélica Pentecostal) — Valparaíso
After splitting from the Methodist church in 1910, Valparaíso's Pentecostal believers spent nine years without a building of their own, meeting in a succession of rented halls. On June 14, 1919, Pastor Willis Hoover personally purchased a property at Retamo 721 in the Almendral district — a former liquor warehouse — and converted it into a sanctuary, dedicating it on Christmas Day with 1,087 people in attendance. This makes it the first building the post-revival Pentecostal movement in Chile ever owned outright, the moment a flock that had wandered from rented room to rented room finally had a temple of its own. The spacious hall, roughly 7.5 by 28 meters with galleries and a wide staircase, reportedly even had electric lighting, unusual for the time. It served as the central temple of the Iglesia Evangélica Pentecostal until a new central temple opened elsewhere in 2001, and has remained an active local congregation ever since, marking its 100th anniversary in 2019 alongside the revival's 110th. Its plain brick exterior holds none of a cathedral's grandeur, but that very ordinariness is the point — this is where a scattered flock first got to call a place their own.
