Tel Dor — Carmel Coast
Tel Dor is the ruin of the biblical harbor town of Dor. The king of Dor joined the northern Canaanite coalition led by Jabin of Hazor against Joshua and was defeated (Josh 11:2; 12:23); the land was assigned to Manasseh, but Israel never drove out Dor's Canaanite inhabitants (Judg 1:27). Solomon later made it an administrative district under Ben-Abinadab (1 Kings 4:11). The seaside excavation preserves layered Phoenician, Israelite, and Hellenistic harbors, walls, and traces of the purple-dye industry. The tel vividly testifies to a conquest left incomplete, with Israel coexisting alongside foreign culture. Honestly, there is no New Testament event here.
