레콜레타 도미니카 성당과 수도원

이글레시아 이 콘벤토 레콜레타 도미니카는 산티아고 레콜레타 자치구의 레콜레타 거리 759번지에 자리한 도미니코회 성당과 수도원이다. 도미니코회는 1750년 마포초강 북쪽 라 침바 지역에 은둔 수도원(레콜레타)을 세우며 이곳에 자리를 잡았다. 오늘날의 삼랑식 성당은 건축가 마누엘 알둔아테의 설계로 무려 30년에 걸쳐 지어져 1882년 봉헌되었으며, 회랑은 1886년부터 1890년까지 다시 세워졌다. 성당 내부를 채운 예순 개의 카라라 대리석 기둥은 이탈리아에서 직접 들여온 것으로, 소박한 식민지풍 성당과는 다른 유럽식 위엄을 자아낸다. 1974년 1월 7일 국가기념물로 지정되었으며, 오늘날 수도원 건물은 센트로 파트리모니알 레콜레타 도미니카라는 이름의 문화유산센터 겸 박물관으로 운영되며 종교미술 소장품과 각종 전시를 선보이고 있다. 삼백 년 가까이 이어진 은둔과 기도의 전통이, 이제는 시민 모두에게 열린 문화공간으로 이어지고 있는 셈이다. 방문할 때는 대리석 기둥이 늘어선 성당 내부와 함께, 옛 수도원 회랑에 마련된 전시 공간도 둘러보길 권한다.
Recoleta Dominica Church and Convent — Santiago
The Recoleta Dominica Church and Convent stands at Recoleta 759 in Santiago's Recoleta district. The Dominican order established a recollection house here in 1750, in the district of La Chimba north of the Mapocho River. The present three-nave church, designed by architect Manuel Aldunate, took some thirty years to build and was consecrated in 1882, while the cloister was rebuilt between 1886 and 1890. Sixty Carrara marble columns, imported directly from Italy, lend the interior a European grandeur that sets it apart from Chile's usual plain colonial churches. Declared a National Historic Monument on January 7, 1974, the convent building today houses the Centro Patrimonial Recoleta Dominica, a heritage center and museum displaying religious art and rotating exhibitions. Nearly three centuries of recollection and prayer have given way to a cultural space now open to the whole city. Visit the marble-columned nave and the former cloister, now given over to exhibition halls.
