대한성공회 진천교회

Jincheon Anglican Church — Chungbuk Jincheon-gun
Jincheon Anglican Church was established in the early 1900s as the Anglican mission pushed beyond Seoul and Ganghwa into inland Chungcheong. Its early British missionaries paired the chapel with clinics and schools, carrying out a ministry in which preaching the gospel and loving one's neighbor went hand in hand, and Jincheon became a key axis of that inland work. In keeping with the Anglican mission's characteristic respect for Korean culture, it sought to take root patiently rather than in haste, and the church preserves a history of the gospel arriving to care for both body and mind. By dissolving suspicion of a foreign religion through the concrete help of healing and learning, the mission here shows how deeply the gospel sinks in when word and deed become one. Though a modest country church, it holds the traces of over a century of quiet service, and its early mission records reward an attentive visit.
