구산성지

구산성지는 1841년 순교한 성 김성우 안토니오와 그 일가·후손 순교자들의 묘가 있는 성지로, 이백 년 넘게 신앙을 이어온 구산 교우촌 마을 안에 자리한다. 김성우는 이 마을의 유력한 집안 출신으로 넉넉한 재산과 지위를 누리던 인물이었으나, 복음을 받아들인 뒤 전 재산과 세상의 명예를 뒤로하고 신앙을 택했으며 자신의 집을 신자들의 모임 장소로 내어놓고 회장으로 교우촌을 이끌었다. 기해박해의 여파로 체포되어 배교를 강요하는 문초를 받았으나, "나는 천주교인이오. 살아도 천주교인으로 살고 죽어도 천주교인으로 죽겠소"라고 답하며 끝내 신앙을 지켜 1841년 옥중에서 순교한 것으로 전해진다. 한 사람의 결단이 아우들과 조카, 후손으로 대를 이어 마을 전체의 신앙 공동체를 이룬 이 이야기는, 가정과 마을 단위로 복음이 뿌리내리고 자라 가는 모습을 보여 준다. 개신교 순례자에게도 이곳은 신앙의 유산을 다음 세대에 물려주는 일의 무게를 일깨우는 자리다. 정갈하게 조성된 순교자 묘역과 함께, 오래된 구산성당의 소박한 돌 성당 건물도 놓치지 말고 둘러보자.
Gusan Holy Site — Gyeonggi Hanam-si
Gusan Holy Site holds the grave of St. Kim Seong-u, martyred in 1841, together with those of his kin and descendants, within a village that has kept the Catholic faith for over two centuries. Kim came from a leading family and enjoyed wealth and standing, but after embracing the gospel he set aside his fortune and worldly honor for the faith, opening his home as a meeting place for believers and leading the community as its lay leader. Arrested in the wake of the 1839 persecution and pressed to recant, he is remembered for declaring that he would live and die a Christian, and he died in prison in 1841. One man's resolve grew, through brothers, nephews, and descendants, into a whole village's faith sustained across generations — a picture of the gospel taking root and growing household by household.
