엔게디 자연보호구역 (다윗의 오아시스)

사해 서안의 엔게디는 사막 한복판에 솟는 담수 오아시스로, 폭포와 초목, 아이벡스(들염소)와 바위너구리가 사는 생명의 땅입니다. 다윗이 사울 왕을 피해 '들염소 바위' 굴에 숨었을 때, 굴에 들어온 사울을 죽일 기회를 얻고도 그의 겉옷 자락만 가만히 벤 채 살려 준 곳입니다(삼상 24장). '여호와의 기름 부음 받은 자'를 제 손으로 해치지 않겠다는 그 절제는, 복수를 하나님께 맡기는 믿음의 본을 보여 줍니다. 아가는 사랑하는 이를 '엔게디 포도원의 고벨화 송이'에 비깁니다(아 1:14). 오늘은 나할 다윗과 나할 아루곳 협곡을 따라 폭포까지 오르는 자연보호구역입니다. 방문 팁: 물과 모자를 준비하고 이른 시간에 오르십시오. 다윗 폭포 아래에서 원수를 갚지 않고 하나님을 신뢰한 다윗의 마음을 묵상하기에 좋습니다.
Ein Gedi Nature Reserve — Dead Sea
On the western shore of the Dead Sea, Ein Gedi is a freshwater oasis rising in the heart of the desert, a land of life with waterfalls, greenery, ibex, and hyrax. Here David, hiding from King Saul among the 'Rocks of the Wild Goats,' had the chance to kill Saul when the king entered the cave, yet only quietly cut off a corner of his robe and spared him (1 Sam 24). That restraint - refusing to harm 'the LORD's anointed' with his own hand - models a faith that leaves vengeance to God. The Song of Songs likens the beloved to 'a cluster of henna blossoms in the vineyards of Ein Gedi' (Song 1:14). Today it is a nature reserve with trails climbing the Nahal David and Nahal Arugot canyons to the falls. Tip: bring water and a hat and start early; below David's Waterfall, reflect on David's trust in God rather than revenge.
